On Sunday 11th September we held our Annual Regatta, which was a great day for everyone who turned up. The weather was good and the wind was good.
The day started with the normal Senior Moments race, this year won by Peter Hunter and followed by Raph Demangeat as runner-up.
Short while later we started the first of the Youth and Junior Races. Then the second race along with the Novices Race.
Youth Races 1 & 2 races were both won by Izzy Boulton-Jones and Junior Races 1 & 2 both won by Sophia Bakry.
Novices Race – was won by Nick Boulton-Jones and Lizzie Yell a ‘close’ second.
Bart’s Bash 2022
GTSC did its part to be involved in the largest Global Sailing Race.
11 boats took part, with Andrew Darke taking the honours and Don Francis in Runner Up place.
All of our results have been entered into Bart’s Bash Results so if you want to see how you did compared with all the other sailors from around the world go to: -
The club also helped to raise £40 from donations on the day.
Following Bart’s Bash came the JMS Challenge. A very enjoyable event.
The event created to remember an old friend and ex Commodore James Middleton Stewart, who did a lot to help promote the use of Club Boats. This event would continue in James’ ideals – use of Club Boats, Club Kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards.
A relay race of Sailing, Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboards, with 4 teams of 5.
You can check the results below to see how you did.
Final Race of the day – Parent/Offspring.
A doubles race where the ‘Offspring’ helm the boat.
This year Alex Holman with Don Francis as his crew won. Followed by the Boulton-Jones’ with Izzy helming and dad Nick as crew.
My thanks to everyone who helped on the day - it could not happen without your assistance. Thanks to everyone who took part.
In all the day was a great success.
